Delight as school celebrate Good Ofsted

Solihull Editorial 9th Jul, 2023   0

CELEBRATIONS were in order as a Temple Balsall school was rated Good following an Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors noted a number of improvements at Lady Katherine Leveson Church of England Primary School including the leadership since its last inspection in 2019.

The April inspection was the first since the pandemic and since the school joined the Birmingham Diocesan Multi-Academy Trust in September 2020.

In 2019 Inspectors said pupils were sometimes given ‘unsuitable activities’ which did not support their learning, special needs pupils did not have a well adapted curriculum, and the teaching of reading was not ‘prioritised.’

The report noted pupils behaved well and played happily together with friends on the playground.

Inspectors said: “Leaders have made improvements to the curriculum since the last inspection. Pupils particularly enjoy their learning in reading and mathematics and make good progress in these subjects.

“Leaders are still in the process of developing their use of assessment in some subjects.

“This means that teachers do not always check what pupils have learned and use this information to pinpoint gaps in knowledge.”

It added that effective steps has been taken to improve the provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Neil Kitching, headteacher, said: “This is a huge achievement for the school as in our last inspection we were judged Requires Improvement.”
