Dance pupils perfect their move under expert tuition

SOLIHULL dance pupils have been perfecting their pirouettes with one of the UK’s leading dance companies.

A-Level students at The Sixth Form College took part in a full-day workshop with Claire Benson, a dancer from Motionhouse Dance Company, to prepare them for the practical exams.

Participating in a challenging technique class before focusing on contact work and lifts, the dancers developed creative and considered choreography which can be used in their own dances.

Dance teacher Rhiannon Waters thanked Ms Benson for giving up her time with the company to spend the day with the students. She added: “The students all spoke enthusiastically about the workshop; there was such a fantastic ‘buzz’ in the dance studio all day.

“The workshop allowed the first year and second year students to collaborate and learn from one another, which was great to see.

“The content of the workshop will significantly aid students in their assessed practical work, when they will have to choreography their own solo and group dances.”
