Cycle to the Somme to launch Shirley's Poppy Appeal

A TEAM of fitness fanatics are limbering up ready to cycle to the Somme on Saturday (October 22) to launch this year’s Shirley poppy appeal.
Members from Shirley Royal British Legion will be taking it in turns to hop on the static bike at Asda in Parkgate and pedal 320 miles – the equivalent distance from Shirley to The Somme in France – to commemorate 100 years since the Battle pf the Somme.
The group will start their 12-hour ride at 8am and will be raising funds for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2016.
