PUPILS from Cranmore Infant School hit all the right notes to be crowned winners of the Touchwood Shopping Centre School Christmas Choir Competition.

The Shirley school received 1,700 votes out of the 6,000 votes cast and beat a number of top carolling challengers to take the £1,000 prize which will be invested in the school’s music development programme.

Shoppers were wowed with several renditions of Christmas favourites from a number of local schools, but it was Cranmore which came up trumps.

Carol Baker, lead teacher at Cranmore Infant School, said: “I have been coaching the pupils who take part in this annual competition for 15 years now and for it to be their first-ever win makes it even more significant.

“We’re absolutely delighted that Cranmore has been crowned as the winners and the pupils have been overjoyed to receive their medals.”

Each year the shopping centre invites Solihull schools to perform Christmas songs to spread festive cheer among shoppers.
