Countdown to Balsall Common Fun Run is on after a year away

Solihull Editorial 13th May, 2021   0

AFTER being forced to sit out due to the pandemic last year the Balsall Common Fun Run is back.

Now in its eighth year, fitness fanatics are being asked once again to join in and help raise funds for the Lily Mae Foundation on Sunday, September 19.

The foundation was set up by Balsall Common couple Ryan and Amy Jackson following the death of their daughter Lily Mae who was stillborn.

It supports parents and families who have tragically and traumatically lost a baby to stillbirth or to neonatal death.

Runners can choose from a 5km or 10km route.

There will also be a mini-run for children who are primary school age and a junior 5km for children to take part in.

Ryan Jackson, founder of the Lily Mae Foundation, said: “After the pandemic wiping out many events in 2020, we are so pleased to see the Fun Run make a return this year.

“It will be a great day for family and friends to finally get together and have something to look forward to.

“With the pandemic having had a profound effect on many people’s mental health, focusing on exercise and having a target to aim towards is so important.

“We really look forward to seeing everybody in September.”
