Countdown on to the annual Knowle and Dorridge Lions Festive Walk on December 27

Solihull Editorial 23rd Dec, 2016   0

JUST turn up and walk off the Christmas pudding – that’s the message from Knowle and Dorridge Lions who are inviting everyone to pull on their boots for their Festive Walk on Tuesday, December 27 from Baddesley Clinton National Trust property.

Celebrating the Clubs 40th year, the Lions hope hundreds of walkers will turn out and help raise funds for three deserving nominated charities – Prostate Cancer UK, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, as well as a variety of other local causes.

“What better way to shake off the excesses of Christmas than to get together with family and friends for a walk in the country,” said organising Lion Ute Smith.

“We hope to welcome a record number of walkers and exceed last years £9,000 raised for charity.”

There will be a choice of three circular sign-posted walks – a three-mile Post Turkey Plod suitable for all ages, a six-mile Walk off the Pudding, and a nine-mile Festive Challenge, around the surrounding Warwickshire countryside along country lanes, towpaths and footpaths – all passing at least one country pub.

Walkers should note that they may start as early as 9am this year and due to parking restrictions they should fill up their cars with friends and relatives before they come

Baddesley Clinton House and Gardens will be open for walkers to view free and there will be mince pies and mulled wine for all to enjoy after their walk.

Should the weather turn wet over Christmas the overflow parking at Baddesley may not be in use and cars may have to be turned away.
