SOLIHULL council leader Bob Sleigh has been appointed as chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
Following on from his role as former chair of the shadow WMCA board, Coun Sleigh has been now appointed chair of the newly-formed WMCA.
He will be in charge of HS2 growth strategy, devolution deals, and communications and engagement.
Dudley council leader, Pete Lowe, has been appointed vice-chair, while the leaders of the other constituent member councils – Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton – have been handed designated portfolios.
