RESIDENTS are being called on to join Solihull Samaritans for lunch.

Every Bite Helps will see a two-course meal served at Shirley Golf Club on October 3 to raise funds for the charity. There will also be a speaker and raffle.

Claire Weaver, listening volunteer at Solihull Samaritans, said: “This funding will be used to train additional volunteers and support existing volunteers by maintaining a safe, welcoming environment from which they are able to support callers and deliver outreach activities in the community.

“More volunteers means we will be able to respond to more callers and undertake more outreach enabling volunteers to support events including Solihull Pride and SummerFest.”

The charity is run entirely by volunteers.

Solihull Samaritans say in an average month these volunteers will spend a total of 344 hours taking 1,338 phone calls, responding to 196 emails and 72 webchats from people in distress.

Tickets cost £32 and are available by clicking here.
