TWO talented musicians from Cockshut Hill School, part of the Summit Learning Trust family, took to the stage to perform a show-stopping medley of hits, at the Services For Education (SFE) Youth Prom this week.
Accompanied by their peripatetic music teacher, Chris Bowden, and PA to the Principal, Claire Pilkington, Alex (year 10) on drums, and Caitlyn (year 7) on keyboards, joined musicians from across the West Midlands to play Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, Backstreet Boys’ ‘I want it that Way’ and Bon Jovi’s ‘Living on a Prayer’.
The performance was one of four concerts at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall showcasing the musical talents over 4,500 young musicians from across the city.
The concerts have featured pieces from a variety of genres and are a culmination of the work SFE has been doing in schools and at ensemble centres throughout the year.
Claire Pilkington said: “It was a pleasure to play alongside Alex and Caitlyn, who are both hugely accomplished musicians, at such a joyful event. They performed with skill and poise, and represented the values of Cockshut Hill brilliantly.”
Jason Bridges, Principal, Cockshut Hill School, said: “We are very fortunate to have two such talented performers in our school community, it is fantastic that their wonderful playing was enjoyed by many more people this week.”
