MORE THAN 11,130 years of NHS experience was celebrated across Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust (BWC).

Around 700 staff were part of the long-awaited return of the Long Service Awards programme.

With previous events having been delayed due to the pandemic, colleagues came together to celebrate each other and share some of their achievements and memories and to get a well-deserved thank you from senior leaders on behalf of BWC and the women, children, young people and families that they have been by the side of during their careers to date.

Raffaela Goodby, chief people officer, said: “It was incredible to be together celebrating the contributions of so many long-serving colleagues, after so many years interacting through masks and screens.

“The sense of optimism, and joy from our amazing colleagues was uplifting, and the sharing of memories, experiences and friendship was vibrant in the room. The overriding vibe was of saying thank you for hard work, dedication and compassion for patients and each other.

”There was so much positive energy in the room it left everyone with a huge smile on their faces. It was such a privilege to be involved and to say thank you on behalf of the Trust and of course everyone who we care for.”

The event recognised those with 20, 25, 30 and 40 years of service in the NHS.
