DEMENTIA patients and their loved ones got into the festive spirit at a Christmas-themed event at a special cafe in Solihull.
The dementia cafe, hosted by Sunrise of Solihull, welcomed those with the condition and their family and friends for a morning of Christmas music, a quiz and the chance to have a mince pie, gingerbread and a sip of mulled wine.
The Worcester Way care home stepped in to support those who wanted it in the borough after two local dementia cafés were closed last year.
The sessions usually involve a friendly welcome with refreshments, a structured activity such as entertainment, quizzes, discussions or a guest speaker.
Jo Hopkins, director of community relations at Sunrise of Solihull, said: “We were delighted to celebrate our dementia cafes with a special Christmas party.
“Earlier this year, we were keen to save the cafés and ensure they could continue with our support and we are delighted to now be marking their success.
“We look forward to continuing to run this initiative throughout 2020 and support even more people affected by memory loss and their loved ones.”
