A BRIDE-TO-BE has been reunited with her engagement ring just in time for Christmas.

Lydia and fiancé Ryan, who are from Barnsley in South Yorkshire, were boarding their plane when they realised that the ring was missing.

It had been taken while the couple travelling through Birmingham Airport.

Lydia and Ryan were excited to be going on holiday with friends to celebrate their recent engagement – but ended up missing their entire trip as a result.

Lydia only took off her engagement ring when she went through airport security.

She put it in a tray along with her other belongings as she went through the security scanners.

It was only when the couple were about to board their flight that Lydia found her ring was missing.

The pair raced back to security – missing their flight.

After the Birmingham Airport Policing Team and airport staff reviewed CCTV footage, they discovered the ring had been picked up by another passenger.

The devastated couple returned to their Barnsley home after missing their flight, and without the ring.

But this week, airport officers were able to bring some Christmas cheer and return the ring.

PC Chris Brown from the Airport Police Team, said: “The team were so happy that we could reunite Lydia with her engagement ring, especially before Christmas.

“From all of us at Birmingham Airport Police, we wish Lydia and Ryan all the best for the future.”

A 51-year-old woman was voluntary interviewed about the theft and released as enquiries continue.
