A CHELMSLEY Wood man who ran over another man following a fight has been jailed.

Corley Cadby and the victim had been inside a club in Digbeth separately when they got into a fight in September.

They were asked to leave, with Cadby leaving through the entrance and the victim leaving via the fire exit.

Cadby got into his blue BMW that was parked outside. On seeing the victim walking up the road, the 31-year-old accelerated, mounted the pavement and hit him.

Cadby drove off, leaving the man lying motionless in the middle of the road.

The 34-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he remained for weeks recovering from his injuries.

An investigation was launched and through insurance records and CCTV, Cadby was identified as prime suspect.

Cadby, of Pike Drive pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court to grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to seven years and 10 months in prison.

DC Emily Williams from the force’s Major Crime Team, said: “When Cadby got into his car, he was determined to seriously hurt his target. Cadby left him lying unconscious in the middle of the road and has failed to show any remorse for his actions to this day.

“The victim continues to recover from his injuries to this day. I hope this sentence gives him some closure knowing that Cadby will be behind bars for a very long time for his actions that day.”
