VOLUNTEERS rolled up their sleeves and gave Chelmsley Wood a spring clean at a litter picking event.
Kind-hearted Silhillians joined forces with Clean and Green, Love Solihull Asda Chelmsley Wood and Talking Rubbish in Solihull – a council supported forum of all the litter picking groups from across all of Solihull.
In the space of two hours the 19-strong team collected 50 bags of rubbish, four shopping trolleys from water, road cones, an office chair and some metal shelving from 30-foot high in a tree.
When they were finished Asda community champion Sam treated the team to post-work drinks and biscuits.
The event was part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean that runs throughout March.
