Check your pockets - Harry Kane fiver worth £50k in Solihull area

A FIVER note believed to be worth £50,000 with England footballer Harry Kane on it has been spent in the Coventry and Solihull area – and it could be in your pocket now!

The engraver, Graham Short, spent one of his special £5 notes in Meriden meaning it is likely to be in circulation in our region.

Mr Short, from Birmingham, made six notes with the World Cup Golden Boot (top scorer) winner and Tottenham Hotspur striker etched into the design.

Kane scored six goals during England’s thrilling World Cup run to the semi-finals in Russia and Mr Short created the six notes as a tribute to his efforts.

But note hunters will have to look closely as the tiny image is obscured by Her Majesty the Queen and Big Ben and the notes look almost exactly the same as standard fivers.

Previously the artist has created notes with Jane Austen etched onto them – and these sold for around £50,000.

The other Harry Kane notes were dispersed at Merthyr Tydfil – a town in Wales – the Elephant House in Edinburgh – where JK Rowling used to write – and somewhere in Northern Ireland.

Mr Short gave the other two notes to the Football Association (FA) and to Harry Kane himself.
