CEMETERIES in Solihull are set to reopen to mourners, the council has said.
Solihull council, which manages bereavement services, said visits to graves could now take place on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9am to 6pm, as restrictions are lifted.
The borough had prevented all family access to cemeteries in recent weeks owing to the coronavirus pandemic, while permitting small attendances at funerals.
A spokeswoman for Solihull Council said: “In response to the Secretary of State’s announcement on April 18, all three cemeteries in Solihull will reopen at weekends from 9am to 6pm for personal visits to graves and memorials.
“Social distancing guidance should be followed at all times and visitors should not gather at a cemetery.
“There has been a significant increase in the number of funerals recently. To ensure the safety of mourners the cemeteries will remain closed from Monday to Friday, other than for those attending a funeral.”
