CELEBRATIONS were in order at the Knowle Royal Naval Association as the group marked its 12th annual dinner.
This year they were joined by the Mayor of Solihull, councillor Flo Nash, the Mayor’s Consort, Alan Nash and senior members of both Knowle and Shirley Royal British Legions.
Also present was the group’s president shipmate Reg Bywell, a Second World War veteran who took part in the Artic Crossing; ‘the worst journey in the world’ according the Sir Winston Churchill.
During the dinner a letter from the Queen to Knowle RNA was read out by the secretary Jennifer Herbert and many toasts were made including the Queen, Lord Nelson and guests.
