A DEDICATED Solihull fundraiser has been handed a top award after clocking up 50 years of support.
Hazel Herriott was presented with a named Certificate of Thanks and a 50 year Bar to her RNLI Long Service Medal from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
She was given her award at the RNLI Solihull Branch’s annual lifeboat day on July 13 by the RNLI’s regional community manager, Emma Macdonald.
Hazel said: “I am honoured to receive these awards and having them presented at Lifeboat Day in the middle of Solihull High Street meant that not only were my fellow committee members in attendance but passing members of the public witnessed the event and offered their congratulations.”
Solihull branch press and publicity officer, David Herriott, said: “I am extremely proud of my wife for her dedication.
“She was a committee member of the former Solihull Ladies Lifeboat Guild back in the 70s and 80s, and later became a committee member of the Solihull RNLI Branch, a position she still holds to the present day.
“Although now troubled with health and mobility problems her enthusiasm however does not wane.”
