CCTV images released of man wanted over suspected armed robberies

Solihull Editorial 25th Sep, 2019   0

CCTV images have been released of man police want to speak with over alleged knifepoint shop robberies.

West Midlands Police has renewed an appeal for information about the suspected armed robberies in Hall Green and Stechford.

A man entered Newhall Green Express on School Road in Hall Green, around 1.10pm on September 3, and threatened a worker with a knife.

This came just days after a postal worker suffered a slash wound to his arm after a knifepoint robbery in Station Road, Stechford, around 12.45pm on August 31.

On this occasion cash and cigarettes were taken.

Detective Sergeant Tom Lyons, from force CID, said: “We don’t underestimate how terrifying it is to be confronted with a knife.

“Fortunately, no-one was seriously injured in either raid, but we need to find whoever was responsible for these robberies as soon as possible.

“To aid the investigation we’ve now launched a renewed appeal for information along with some clear CCTV footage of the suspect.

“I’m confident that someone in the community knows exactly who this person is, and I’d urge those people to get in contact with us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact police online at www.west-midlands.pnn.police.uk between 8am and midnight or call 101 anytime and quote crime reference number 20BE/206784E/19 or 20BE/209396N/19.
