Case dropped against Solihull men charged with terrorism offences

THE CASE against a Solihull man and his son who were charged with terrorism offences has been discontinued due to ‘insufficient evidence’.

No further action will be taken against Paul Newey, 49 and Samuel Newey, 19.

Charges against Manchester man Daniel Burke, 33, have also been dropped.

Head of the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit Kenny Bell said: “All cases are continually assessed by Crown Prosecution Service and police to ensure that the right and proper course of action is undertaken in the interests of justice.

“In this case, the Crown has concluded that as the case against all three of the defendants has developed, there is now insufficient evidence to sustain a realistic prospect of conviction.”
