RESIDENTS at a Solihull care home were transported to Germany for an afternoon celebrating Oktoberfest.
Care UK’s Blossomfield Grange, on Worcester Way, hosted an afternoon of fun with a specially crafted menu inspired by the famous beer festival, which included pretzels and bratwurst inspired dishes.
To complement their food, and in true Oktoberfest fashion, residents sampled a selection of German beers and later learned about the history of the festival, before enjoying live music from oompah band, The Bierkeller Schunklers.
Commenting on the afternoon, resident Eileen said: “it has been such a fun afternoon, I really enjoyed the oompah band they were very entertaining”
Anne Gaffney, General Manager at Blossomfield Grange, said: “Everyone had a fantastic afternoon at our Oktoberfest themed festival.
“The residents had a great time enjoying German cuisine and learning about the history of the festival – while dancing along to The Bierkeller Schunklers and their traditional German folk music.
“At Blossomfield Grange, we are committed to ensuring the home is a welcoming and supportive place for everyone, where different cultures and interests are celebrated regularly through memorable activities which promote positive wellbeing.
“We want to say a big thank you to The Bierkeller Schunklers for coming along and making our first Oktoberfest celebration one to remember. We’ll certainly be raising a glass or two again next year!”
