A CENTANARIAN’S birthday was made a little happier thanks to kind-hearted Silhillians.
Irene Rose Purcell was sent an extra 68 cards to mark her 100th birthday following an appeal from The Priory.
Irene celebrated her special day at The Priory, with her family.
Chefs at the home baked her a home-made cake and make a buffet for her family to enjoy with her.
Irene has been a resident at The Priory for two years, she was born in Acocks Green, Birmingham and has two children and one grandchild.
Throughout her life, Irene worked as a nurse for many years and kept up her hobby of knitting.
When asked on her tips to live a long, happy and healthy life, Irene said: “Work hard but most of all, be happy!”
Home manager, Cheryl Harbourne, said: “Irene is such a joy to be around, we love seeing her smiling face every day.”
