MERIDEN MP Saqib Bhatti says he is ‘so proud and impressed’ at the entries to his annual Christmas card competition.

The Conservative MP received almost 600 entries from pupils from more than 10 schools.

The winner this year is six-year-old Camille Cheng from Monkspath Junior and Infant School with a fantastic drawing of Father Christmas and a Christmas Tree which featured flags from countries around the world.

Camille also received a letter from Mr Bhatti and the Prime Minister congratulating her on her win – it added: “your design shows us what Christmas is about – peace, love and joy for all”.

Mr Bhatti said: “With so many fantastic card designs, my wife and I found it extremely difficult to pick a winner.

“Every entry had its own charm and I want to thank each and every student who participated in the competition this year.

“In my professional life I have sat on numerous judging panels for various awards and I can safely say that I did not find those decisions as hard as judging this contest.

“I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”
