A 21-YEAR-OLD charged with the murder of Callum Lees, who died from a stab wound to his neck, has been remanded in custody.
Callum was stabbed at a house party in Hopwas Grove, Kingshurst and found collapsed in nearby Haselour Road by a member of the public on August 6.
He died a short time later in hospital.
James Atherley, aged 21 of no fixed address, appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (September 2) following his arrest in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Wednesday (August 30).
Atherley is due to appear before Birmingham Crown court tomorrow (Tuesday, September 5).
Three people arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender − a woman, aged 48, and two 19-year-old men − have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Callum’s family have been informed of the latest developments and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
Detectives continue to appeal for anyone else who was in the flat in Hopwas Grove on that morning to come forward.
