A 21-YEAR-OLD charged with the murder of Callum Lees, who died from a stab wound to his neck, has been remanded in custody.

Callum was stabbed at a house party in Hopwas Grove, Kingshurst and found collapsed in nearby Haselour Road by a member of the public on August 6.

He died a short time later in hospital.

James Atherley, aged 21 of no fixed address, appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (September 2) following his arrest in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Wednesday (August 30).

Atherley is due to appear before Birmingham Crown court tomorrow (Tuesday, September 5).

Three people arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender − a woman, aged 48, and two 19-year-old men − have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
