Call from MP for local women to help shape new health strategy

Solihull Editorial 3rd Jun, 2021   0

WOMEN are being encouraged to share their experiences, as well as their priorities, to help shape the first ever government-led Women’s Health Strategy.

The call comes from Meriden MP Saqib Bhatti in a new drive to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of women in England.

Mr Bhatti is asking for women, carers, clinicians and local organisations to respond to the call for evidence before it closes next Sunday, June 13, so they can help shape the future of women’s healthcare.

So far more than 65,000 responses have already been received in the bid to capture the varying health issues women experience over their lives and the significant differences between women and men in terms of access to services, experience of services and health outcomes.

“I am urging all women to come forward and respond to this call for evidence – these reforms must focus on delivering for women,” said Mr Bhatti.

“This is an opportunity to put the female voice right at the heart of health strategy.

“This consultation will also be key in understanding and responding to the impacts of Covid-19 on women’s health – supporting women through the unique challenges they’ve faced during the pandemic.”
