Call for Solihull businesses to get quiz teams at the ready

Solihull Editorial 28th Jul, 2023   0

SOLIHULL businesses are being called on to bring their quizzers together and help raise funds for Marie Curie.

The annual Marie Curie Midlands Brain Game will see guests from across the business world come together to enjoy a sumptuous dinner and a quiz, while raising vital funds for the end of life charity.

Last year the event raised a whopping £80,000 and it is hoped more will be raised at this year’s event on September 14 at the ICC in Birmingham.

Marie Curie has had a presence in the Midlands for over 70 years and this year the leading end of life charity is celebrating its 75th anniversary of providing expert care and support to dying people in the UK.

Over the last 10 years, Marie Curie has cared for more than 13,500 patients at its Solihull hopice.

The Marsh Lane site is home to a specialist team of medical professionals, occupational therapists and physiotherapists and a Support and Wellbeing Hub, which provides holistic support to people with both their physical and emotional wellbeing, including bereavement support.

The charity must raise £10,830 every day to fund the hospice, which equates to nearly £4,000,000 every year.

Leigh Swaine, senior special events manager at Marie Curie, said: “The format of the evening has all the right ingredients for an amazing night – fun, entertainment, and networking with a healthy dose of competitive quizzing thrown in.

“It is thanks to our amazing corporate supporters, volunteers, and staff, across the UK that Marie Curie has been there for people affected by terminal illness over the past 75 years, but today our work is more needed than ever.

“With the continued support of the business community of the Midlands, we can ensure a future where everyone gets the best possible end of life care.”

Prices for tables of 10 start from £2,500.
