Call for Cost of Living Champions to join ranks

Solihull Editorial 4th Feb, 2023   0

SOLIHULL Council is encouraging people interested in supporting others during the cost of living crisis to join a new community programme.

Following the success of the Covid Champions who helped the Council understand the issues residents were facing the authority is looking to do the same with the pressures felt now.

The Cost of Living Community Champions will need to commit to an hour’s meeting every fortnight.

Deputy leader for Solihull Council and cabinet member for partnerships and well-being, Councillor Karen Grinsell, said: “We are now experiencing rising energy prices and increasing cost of living pressures and think that a new network could help us again.

“Although we have worked with local and national organisations to help our residents as much as possible with financial support and advice – particularly with energy costs, food and money – we want to see if there is anything else that is needed and that we can help with.

“That is why we are setting up a Cost of Living Community Champions network on a similar basis to the Covid Community Champions network.”
