A BURGLAR who stole cars worth more than £300,000 and filmed himself breaking into his victims’ houses has been jailed.
Liam Moore was arrested in October 2023 after dozens of homes were burgled across Birmingham and Solihull.
Following his arrest, Moore’s phone was seized and analysed with his own phone records linking him to 13 burglaries and 14 car thefts.
West Midlands Police said Moore would often record himself burning and snapping locks and would also take photos of the cars he had stolen.
Officers found videos that Moore had uploaded to Snapchat, including one that showed him melting a door lock.
Moore’s search history on his phone showed that he would look up the cars he was looking to steal which gave officers an insight into the criminality he was involved in.
The 20-year-old was charged with 13 burglaries and 14 theft of motor vehicles that happened between August and October 2023.
He appeared before Birmingham Crown Court after initially pleading not guilty, he changed his plea to guilty on the second day of trial.
Moore was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Detective Sergeant Charlie Edwards from Solihull Police, said: “I’m so glad Moore has finally been served the justice he deserves for what he has done.
“Moore was that confident he wouldn’t get caught. He would film himself breaking into people’s homes and take photos of the cars he was stealing.
“Moore would also refer to the crimes he was committing as ‘grafting’ which is such an insult to the hard-working people he was stealing from.
“We worked really hard to ensure he was held accountable for his actions and I’m glad that he will now spend the next few years in prison.”
