Breast Cancer Haven West Midlands mark first anniversary with a bespoke tree sculpture to honour special moments

THERE were celebrations all round when a tree sculpture was unveiled at Solihull’s Breast Cancer Haven’s first anniversary.

The tree, which takes pride of place in the centre’s Orangery, created especially for the centre by artist Claudia Ashley-Brown and contains 450 gold, silver and bronze leaves which can be inscribed with a message to mark a special occasion or anniversary.

Amanda Elliott, Breast Cancer Haven’s fundraising manager, said: “Our beautiful celebration tree is at the heart of our centre.

“The number of leaves on the tree represents the number of women who have been supported by the charity since opening its doors just 12 months ago and is something that we’re really proud of.

“Life’s special moments need to be celebrated and our tree gives people the opportunity to purchase a leaf to mark their own achievement or milestone whether it be a special birthday or the end of their treatment.

“It’s a great opportunity for friends and family to show others they’re proud of their achievements too.”

The tree was officially launched by Mary Rhodes, BBC Midlands Today presenter and Chair of the Breast Cancer Haven, West Midlands development board to mark the centre’s first birthday.
