Borough woman receives 'Business Women of the Year' at this year's Birmingham Awards

LEIGH Perry Principal and Trustee of DMS Heart of England Music Academy in Knowle is celebrating a fantastic win at Saturday night’s second annual Birmingham Awards ceremony, held at The Vox Centre, Resorts world.

Leigh , shortlisted last year for West Midlands Woman of the Year, received the news that she had not only been nominated but shortlisted for ‘Business Woman of The Year’ in the prestigious BAwards 2016.

The awards celebrate the beating heart of Brum and include categories such as, Business of the year, best pub and restaurant, best blogger, best charity and business man of the year.

Leigh said: “It’s incredible, I was truly shocked to get the email but even more so to win the award on Saturday night.




“It was an honour to be in for an award alongside four other amazing woman all with varying career paths in business.”

The judges announced at the event that this category was especially hard to judge and therefore two awards were given to top business woman.


Leigh’s next project is producing ‘A fusion of music and dance’ at symphony hall on May 7. It involves over 300 pupils from DMS plus celebrity guests and raises money for charities chosen by Leigh.
