WAITROSE is preparing to open its new Solihull store with a borough man at its helm.

The Homer Road branch will open on Thursday, June 23 with Solihull resident Ben Service as its manager.

Mr Service, who has lived in the borough for 13 years, has been a member of the John Lewis Partnership since 2001 – spending 11 years as an operations manager for John Lewis in the Touchwood shopping centre.

Speaking ahead of the store’s opening, he said: “As a local resident who has worked with the Solihull community for a number of years, I’m really looking forward to bringing Waitrose to the area and providing shoppers with our latest offer and services.

“Following a fantastic response to our recruitment drive, we’ve been very encouraged by the positive reaction to the new branch.

“It’s exciting to see the new team coming together and the store taking shape ready to welcome our customers in the summer.”

The new Homer Road store will include meat and fish counters, and a café bar with indoor and outing seating.

The branch will also feature a sushi counter, which will be manned by a skilled sushi chef who will prepare fresh products in front of customers throughout the day.

Waitrose Solihull will open at 7:30am on Thursday, June 23 2016.
