A BOROUGH Elvis impersonator got all shuck up competing against 60 others in the European Elvis Championships.

Carl Ryder, 41, sung his heart out with amazing grace during the final round which saw singers from places like Switzerland, Germany and France battle it out for the King’s crown.

The group of ten hound dogs made it through to the last leg of the competition and performed with a live band before an Elvis from Malta stole the show and won first place.

In total between 800 and 1,000 people went along to enjoy the weekend long show at the Hilton Birmingham NEC Hilton, which has been running the championships for the last five years.

Carl’s partner Katie Meager said: “It was a very good show.”

She added Carl had been a singer for a long time until about eight years ago when someone said he sounded a lot like Elvis.

“He has worked very hard over the last two years. He has built up his Facebook and is fully booked and doing really well,” she added.

“I very proud of him because I now how much work he puts into it.

“I think he thought the winner deserved it because he was a fantastic singer so although he would have loved to have come in first place he was not too disappointed.”
