KIND-HEARTED pupils have marked the start of the National Year of Reading by donating book to a Solihull cafe.

Lyndon School’s Library Ambassadors handed over the books at the cafe then spent some time reading and enjoying refreshments as a reward for their hard work helping in the school library.

In their role the eight youngsters support the school librarian with administration and helps other readers to find the right books for them.

The books in the cafe will enable those who might not have access to them at home to borrow books and encourage reading, as part of Lyndon’s commitment to both raising literacy levels for their learners and the local community.

Syreeta Kapswara, Head of School at Lyndon, commented: “Our Library Ambassadors highlight the impact that learners can have on their Lyndon Learner Journey.

“As leaders in our school, they help others altruistically and ensure that everybody in our school community has the best experience of reading for pleasure.

“We are very proud of their contribution and look forward to seeing them become life-long readers and leaders.”

The National Year of Reading was officially launched by the Department for Education and the National Literacy Trust and invites everybody to Go All In with reading.
