BIRMINGHAM City FC women’s star Martha Harris put Solihull pupils to the test with an exercise class.

The Blues defender visited Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School Academy thanks to Sports for Champions UK, which bring together top athletes and schools.

Louise, Damson Wood’s sports lead, said: “As a local school, we take immense pride in supporting our professional athletes and for our pupils, from nursery to year 2, to have the opportunity to meet and train with a professional athlete is special and we are proud to have welcomed Martha to our school.

“Our pupils really enjoyed their exercise workshop with her.”

Marth said: “I am thrilled to inspire young children and empower them to pursue what they enjoy.

“Visiting schools, allows me to educate and be a role model.

“I want to give a big shout-out to the incredible households at Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School for the fantastic funds raised totalling £1,455 that will support young professional athletes’ training and enrich the school’s pupils’ education and experiences.”
