CELEBRATION blooms will be on display at Olton Friary to mark the Catholic Jubilee year, Pilgrims of Hope.
Parish Priest, Father Anthony Biju, is inviting both parishioners and the community to visit Olton Friary for a flower festival next weekend.
On Friday (October 10), Holy Mass will be celebrated at 6pm with the Bishop of Birmingham, David Evans, to formally open the festival.
The festival will be open for all on October 11 from 11am until 7pm and on Sunday Solihull Mayor, Councillor Annette Mackenzie will be making her first visit as Mayor and joining the 11am service and visiting the festival which is open noon until 5pm.
Flower arrangements have been created by the Olton Friary Flower Group, and by the many volunteer groups that support the parish on a daily basis.
There have also been a number of displays from schools and churches.
Refreshments will be available and any donations will go towards the Friary building fund, including repairs to the Church hall roof – a central community centre within Olton.
A Jubilee is celebrated every 25 years by the Catholic Church and in 2024, the late Pope Francis announced Catholics would be celebrating a year of hope, to be known as Pilgrims of Hope.
