A FORMER Ninestiles Academy pupil ticked off an item from her birthday bucket list when she returned to the classroom.
Jean Kimberley, who attended the school decades before it became known as Ninestiles, reached out to the school as part of her challenge to complete 80 things before turning 81.
What followed was a heartfelt day of celebration and nostalgia, bringing together past and present in true community spirit.
Jean’s connection to Ninestiles spans generations, not only did her children attend the school, but so did her grandchildren, including Grace, who left just a few years ago and has since returned for work experience as part of her college course.
During her visit, Jean enjoyed a day of activities including a sewing lesson in honour of her favourite subject, performances by the school’s choir and instrumentalists, a guided tour of the school and time with the principal, as well as a special lunch featuring retro favourites, including the beloved chocolate concrete.
Jean was also joined by other former students, now part of the school’s growing alumni network, which is playing an increasingly active role in school life.
Alex Hughes, Ninestiles principal, said: “It was an absolute joy to welcome Jean back to Ninestiles.
“Her enthusiasm, energy, and love for learning are truly inspiring.
“We’re proud to be a school that celebrates its past while looking firmly to the future and Jean’s visit reminded us all of the lasting impact schools have on our lives. “We hope her 80th list continues to bring her as much joy as she brought to us.”
