Birmingham Dogs Home appeals for support over Christmas period

BIRMINGHAM Dogs Home is caring for over 350 dogs this festive period, all in need of some love from the team.

Just 50p helps Birmingham Dogs Home provide them with a warm dinner on Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Year’s day.

Birmingham Dogs Home was founded in 1892, and helps care for all the stray and abandoned dogs from the West Midlands and South Staffordshire Area.

In 2017, it took in and helped care for over 2,700 dogs, many who were in need of urgent medical care and who needed their help and support, but most of all – love.

As a charity, it receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of the public to help care for all the dogs that come into their centres.

Every donation helps provide the dogs with food, water, heating, medical care, and fully trained staff to help get them fit and healthy until they are ready to find a new loving home.

Not only does the charity support dogs in need, but they are also dedicated to helping future dog owners with their educational outreach programme.

This gives information to over 6,000 school children every year on the importance of keeping safe around dogs, responsible dog ownership and animal welfare which is not taught in schools.

To donate visit www.birminghamdogshome.org.uk, call 0121 643 5211 (option 3), text XMAS39 followed by £1-£5 or £10 to 70070 or via post to Birmingham Dogs Home, Catherine-de-Barnes Lane, Solihull, B92 0DJ.
