DEDICATED staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital were handed a ‘well-deserved’ bundles of goodies.

The Emergency Department team were given boxes packed with treats as a special ‘thank you’ as part of the Blue Light Card’s Emergency Treats campaign.

The team were nominated by Andy Lewis, retired paediatric emergency medicine associate specialist, at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, for going above and beyond the call of duty to help children – and their families – in their hour of need.

Speaking about his nomination entry, Andy said: “I am absolutely thrilled that my nomination for my hard working colleagues at the Emergency Department of the Birmingham Children’s hospital won out of 60,000 entries.

“The staff were so grateful for their treats and I’m very grateful to Blue Light Card for organising the emergency treats campaign.”

With 1,000 prizes still up-for-grabs, Blue Light Card encourages members to continue to nominate their well-deserving colleagues.

When entering, members have the opportunity to choose from three Emergency Treat options: Breaktime Treats, End-of-Shift Treats or Celebration Treats.

Speaking about the Emergency Treats campaign, Alidad Moghaddam, chief executive of Blue Light Card, said: “We understand the demanding nature of the work carried out by those in the Blue Light Community. ‘Emergency Treats’ was born from our desire to express gratitude to the dedicated members of our community who carry out these challenging roles, and to say a huge ‘thank you’ for all their tireless efforts.”

“A simple act of kindness has the ability to brighten someone’s day and bring teams together, and we’re thrilled to have brought smiles to the hardworking Emergency department team, at Birmingham Children’s Hospital – by giving them a well-deserved treat as a symbol of gratitude for their extraordinary work.”
