Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust welcomes new non-executive director

Solihull Editorial 4th Sep, 2019   0

A NEW chief at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) has been appointed.

Philip Gayle will be joining the Board as a non-executive director from October 1.

He is chief executive at Servol Community Services, an organisation that provides accommodation and support services for people experiencing mental health difficulties.

Over the years he has been an independent consultant for TRIBAL, an assessor for national funding applications for government schemes, where he gained key insight into government contracts and procurement.

He is a qualified counsellor and has a masters degree in Healthcare Policy Management from the University of Birmingham.

Mr Gayle said: “It’s a real privilege to have this opportunity to join BSMHFT as a non-executive director, and I am extremely looking forward to making a contribution to the continued success of the Trust.”

He previously held a number of NHS board positions and is a non-executive director at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Sue Davis CBE, Chair of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Philip to our Trust Board, to which he will bring his extensive expertise and knowledge gained within director level roles in the third sector, NHS and business consultancy.

“The experience, commitment and leadership that Philip demonstrated during the recruitment process will be invaluable to the Trust at this critical time, as NHS organisations tackle the challenge of continuously improving quality of care for our service users while maintaining financial sustainability.”

Mr Gayle replaces Barry Henley, who left the Trust at the end of May this year to take up the post of chair at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
