Birmingham Airport staff turned into lego mini figures to highlight roles

BIRMINGHAM Airport terminals and staff have been transformed into Lego.

Minifigures of actual airport staff feature in the sculpture revealed at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre.

It aims to shine a spotlight on the work that goes into ‘building’ travel experiences as part of the centre’s building your journey campaign.

It features team members in their place of work from front-of-house customer service and security roles to back of house airfield positions.

The initiative shows the extensive workforce that make journeys possible

Jo Roberts, head of marketing and corporate affairs at Birmingham Airport said: “At our airport there are thousands of hard working and dedicated people that make every journey possible.

“In recognition and appreciation of some of the work that goes on every day at the airport 15 of our colleagues have been honoured in Lego brick as minifigures.

“By permanently featuring some of the roles and amazing people we have in this display, we hope that the next generation of colleagues will explore the range of roles we have at the airport.”

Built entirely from Lego, the new miniature model located within the centre’s MiniLand attraction consists of a 14,700 bricks and includes runway markings, luggage belts, forklift trucks, shops, passport control, and a fleet of LEGO planes.

Designed and created by LEGOLAND’s expert Master Builders, the set is expected to grow in coming months with the build of BHX’s iconic Air Traffic Control Tower, as well as the completion of a full interactive runway.
