POLICE at Birmingham Airport have been thanked for going above and beyond the call of duty for their help with an anxious passenger.

A letter was sent to the team from the grateful passenger who felt nervous and anxious the minute she arrived at departures.

The letter said: “When I arrived and was trying to find out where my departure gate was, I started to feel really anxious.

“At this point a very kind police officer came up to me and asked if I was ok, he realise I clearly wasn’t and very kindly escorted me to the departure lounge, while talking to me throughout our walk which put me at ease.

“I’m so grateful for his kindness and amazing service. It made such a difference to me and I got through my trip which might not sound like much, but it did to me and I now feel I can take on the world.

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you and that you guys do an amazing job and are not always appreciated. I for one definitely appreciate you.”

The Airport Policing Team, based at Birmingham Airport, protect passengers and visitors to the airport on a daily basis.

Inspector Colin Gallier at Birmingham Airport, said: “It’s fantastic getting feedback like this in what is a really challenging time for everyone at the moment.

“Our main priority is to keep you safe and make sure you have a safe and stress-free journey.

“If you’re travelling through Birmingham Airport this half term and have any concerns, please speak to one of my officers. We are always here to help.”
