Billy's on the bill as Solihull Summer Festival offer 'ultimate feel-good music festival'

AWARD-winning R&B singer-songwriter Billy Ocean is joining the Sunday line-up at this year’s Solihull Summer Fest.

Dubbed the biggest black recording star Britain has ever produced, Billy has sold more than 30million records worldwide, achieving number one spot on pop charts in the UK, USA, Australia, Germany and Holland.

The Trinidadian-English musician won a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run), and in 1987 was nominated for the BRIT Award for Best British Male Artist. His other hits include ‘When The Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going’, ‘Love Really Hurts Without You’, ‘Suddenly’ and ‘Red Light Spells Danger’.

In addition to Billy Ocean, the show on Sunday (July 24), features Belinda Carlisle, Kool & The Gang, Bad Manners, The Real Thing and Dr & The Medics.




Saturday (July 23) will see Shaggy, Sister Sledge. Boyzlife, Shalamar, Lemar and, by by popular demand, Artful Dodger returning to the main stage.

The Solihull Summer Fest team say the 2022 event is their biggest line up to date for ‘the ultimate feel-good music festival’.


Throughout the weekend, the Second Stage will be hosted by The Soul Selection featuring the finest 70s & 80s Soul & Funk Anthems. The Soul Selection stage is headlined on the Saturday by Kenny Thomas and on Sunday by Trevor Nelson.

Organiser Ian Rogers, said: “After a very challenging couple of years, event life is in a much more positive situation and our team are completely focused and passionate about delivering the best-ever Solihull Summer Fest.

“There are some huge names in our line up and I truly hope the Solihull borough support this increasingly popular festival on their doorstep.”
