Solihull Editorial 29th May, 2017   0

A SLEUTH of colourful bears are preparing to come out of hibernation and take to the streets of Birmingham this summer to help raise much-needed funds for the Children’s Hospital.

The highly anticipated free, ten-week public art trail, named The Big Sleuth, will see the city engulfed in colour with up to 100, 165cm tall sculptures taking to the region’s streets, parks and open spaces from July 10.

Showcasing the artistic and cultural diversity the city has to offer, the family-friendly trail is intended to inspire residents and tourists alike to get active by walking, jogging, running or cycling The Big Sleuth Trail.

Located across the city, with satellite trails in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Sandwell and at Resorts World, the fantastic spectacle will come to an end on September 17.

Sally-Ann Wilkinson, Director of Wild in Art, said: “We’re delighted to be announcing the dates of this year’s exciting trail.

“The Big Sleuth brings together business and creative sectors with schools and local communities to celebrate Birmingham’s rich culture and heritage and will leave lasting memories across the region for generations to come.”

At the end of The Big Sleuth, the giant bears will be sold at auction.

The Big Sleuth’s predecessor, The Big Hoot, raised over £500,000 for the charity at auction, and The Big Sleuth aims to do the same.

All proceeds will go towards helping the children and young people treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
