ART & Design students from Solihull College & University Centre have been raising money for the NSPCC.
The fundraising efforts have seen students planning a range of events in honour of the NSPCC’s Childhood Day on June 11.
The day aims to raise money to help keep children safe.
Students held in-class events, including a quiz, to raise awareness of the different kinds of abuse that exist, an activity where students distributed kindness notes to one another, and art therapy sessions.
The students have also been planning a sponsored walk/run, virtual competitions and have been selling NSPCC badges in their bubbles. Their JustGiving page has so far raised an impressive £238.
The students, who will soon be reaching the end of their course, were excited to get involved with the cause. Sakinah Bouterse, 18 from Birmingham, was one of the students running the event.
She utilised her art skills to design three posters with the Childhood Day theme to go up around the college.
“Running this event brought with it a lot of new social and leadership skills” she said.
“It was pulling something from nothing, and it was brilliant to be involved with local charities.
“We raised much more than we were expecting.”
Tutor Matt Scrivens added: “The class have worked together as a real team to raise this money for a truly valuable cause. They are a credit to their course and to the College.”
