BHBN takes over Mell Square

MELL SQUARE was a hive of music and entertainment over the weekend.

Hospital broadcasting charity BHBN Radio hosted a pop-up roadshow event in Solihull.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Sardul Singh Marwa, officially welcomed the community roadshow to the borough where residents could meet the team, and learn about radio production first-hand, and discover how to get involved with the station.

The event successfully raised awareness for BHBN Radio’s vital service, which broadcasts to patients across several hospitals and the wider community.

BHBN volunteers spent the day speaking with residents about a variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities, ranging from on-air presenting and production to essential behind-the-scenes engineering and patient-befriending roles.

Andy Caddick, BHBN publicity officer said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Mayor and Mayoress and the people of Solihull for such a warm and enthusiastic welcome.

“Mell Square provided the perfect platform to share our passion for radio and hospital broadcasting.

“We met some fantastic potential recruits on Saturday, and we look forward to welcoming new faces into both our on-air and behind-the-scenes teams to help us keep patients entertained and connected.”

BHBN Radio is on the look out for volunteers to cover roles including presenters, ward visitors, technical assistants, and fundraisers. No prior radio experience is required, as full training is provided.
