ANIMAL lovers at a Barston Care Home boosted the coffers at Knowle Donkey Sanctuary.

Residents at Eastcote Park care home have raised £600 Sanctuary as part of an ongoing sponsorship to support the volunteer-run charity, which relies on donations to care for rescued donkeys.

In addition to providing regular support for vet bills and feed, the care home is fundraising through raffles and charity quiz nights.

So far, these events have raised over £600, with two more quizzes planned for October 9 and December 11.

The team aims to reach a total of £1,000 in donations by the end of the year.

Crichton, a 97-year-old resident said: “The donkeys were everything I hoped for and more.

“One more joyful tick on the bucket list! I am pleased Eastcote Park is supporting the Donkey Sanctuary; it is heartwarming to know that our support is allowing these animals to get a second chance to live their best lives.”

Caroline Morse, head of care at Eastcote Park said: “When we discussed supporting a charity this year at Eastcote Park, we decided that we wanted to support one that was close to our home, and our hearts.

“Our residents love animals – so as well as providing much needed funds to support rescued donkeys, it is also an ideal location to pop down to with residents for an afternoon out.”
