FORMER Solihull MP, Baroness Lorely Burt of Solihull has become patron to a charity which supports those responding to life-threatening 999 calls.
Arrive Alive, which supports ambulances and community first responders with donations – including FastAid Solihull – across the region, has welcomed Baroness Burt onto the team.
The Birmingham-based charity donates equipment including a third ambulance car to FastAid Solihull in March so the volunteers, who are on-call at the same time as ambulance resources but due to their location will often get to a patient just before the ambulance and start potentially life-saving treatment before an ambulance arrives on scene.
The ambulance car was donated as part of Arrive Alive’s Silver Second Appeal which is funded solely by public donations.
Baroness Burt said: βIt is a pleasure and an honour to become part of the amazing Arrive Alive team.
“First Responders can save lives, but they need to be able to get to where they are needed β Fast.
“The generosity and goodwill of so many people has already enabled three vehicles to be brought, serving communities within the West Midlands including Solihull and the Black Country.
“We can and must do more, and I am looking forward to playing my small part in making this happen.β
