Authentic Chinese New Year spectacular set to dazzle at Solihull's Touchwood

SEE in the Chinese New Year at Solihull’s Touchwood in style this weekend.

You’ll be able to catch traditional Chinese dancers, music by eight-year-old Aidan Siqi Zhao -Solihull Musician of the Year 2019 – and a Chinese dragon walkabout.

2020 is the Year of the Rat. To mark the occasion the shopping centre is welcoming a series of spectacular authentic musical and dance performances across both Saturday January 25 and Sunday January 26 January, between 11am and 4pm.

They include professional artists from the DANS Chinese Dance and Performing Arts group, who will be performing classic Chinese fan, umbrella and long sleeves dances.




The traditional Chinese dragon and lion will weave their way around the centre with their joyful dance, spreading prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year. Guests will also have the opportunity to pose for pictures with the colourful creatures.

Talented musicians will add to the celebratory atmosphere by performing a range of Chinese folk songs using traditional instruments. Eversfield Prep School pupil Aidan Siqi Zhao, who went head-to-head with adult musicians last year to win of Solihull Musician of the Year, will also be delighting guests by playing tunes on a traditional Chinese Dulcimer.
