ALLEGED shop thieves have been arrested over the past week in Solihull.

A man wanted in connection with 16 shop thefts and assaulting an officer has been arrested.

Solihull police arrested him following a chase through back gardens in Castle Bromwich over the past week.

And police from the Smith’s Wood, Kingshurst and Castle Bromwich team arrested another man who was wanted in connection with shop thefts.

A pair of PCSOs from the team also picked up a stolen car in Kingshurst after checks revealed it had been taken from a nearby address.

In Chelmsley Wood, the team arrested a man who was wanted for breaching a domestic violence protection notice, while a joint operation was held by officers from Chelmsley Wood and British Transport Police.

The operation, at the bus interchange, also involved colleagues from Safer Travel and National Express.

In Shirley, the team’s PCSOs carried out patrols along Northbrook Road issuing warnings to vehicles found blocking the footpaths.

Finally, the Chelmsley Wood team joined Streetwatch volunteers for patrols following community concerns.

The team also visited Bosworth Drive for a Cuppa with a Copper community engagement event.
