TEENAGERS have appeared in court following a police chase through Solihull and Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said it was called to reports a group on motorbikes were trying to steal another bike from a car park in Solihull at around 3.30pm on April 10.

The group – wearing balaclavas – weren’t successful and quickly left the scene, driving dangerously through Solihull town centre.

Road Policing Unit officers were joined by the police helicopter as they pursued the bikes from Solihull into Birmingham city centre.

A stolen motorbike was abandoned there, and the group escaped into nearby shops.

Following those enquiries, three boys from Birmingham were arrested in the early hours of April 15.

The three, all aged 17, were due at Birmingham Magistrates Court April 16 charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

The three have also been charged with various other offences including assaulting police, criminal damage to a police car, possession of cannabis, and breaching bail.
